Sarabeth Berk, PhD
Dr. Sarabeth Berk considers herself a hybrid professional and ecosystem builder. She identifies as an artist/researcher/educator/designer. Her hybrid title is “Creative Disruptor.” With a background in creativity, design thinking, systems building, innovation, and entrepreneurship, Sarabeth is skilled at convening and connecting diverse stakeholders to solve wicked, systemic human-centered problems.
Currently, Sarabeth is the Founding Director of Futurebound, a new movement of changemakers who are organizing an innovation ecosystem focused on solving challenges for young children across Colorado. As an innovator and systems builder, Sarabeth lives by the mantras, “What does the user think?”, “Show don’t tell” and “Seeing is believing.” Early adopters are her favorite collaborators, and strong relationships are the key to her success. Previously, she was the Director of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative at the University of Colorado Boulder, and the Innovation Program Manager at the Imaginarium- the Innovation Lab of Denver Public Schools.
Sarabeth obtained her PhD in curriculum studies and instruction from the University of Denver, and focuses on innovation in nonprofits, K-12 and higher education. She also has degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Rhode Island School of Design.
When she isn’t transforming education, early childhood or disrupting the status quo, Sarabeth is a council member on the Denver County Cultural Council, and a fan of all things arts and culture. She listens to a zillion podcasts (her current faves are Tara Brach, How I Built This, Hidden Brain, and Design Matters) and plays in the outdoors as much as possible- mountain biking, skiing, and hiking with her dog are at the top of her list.
